Topic 11: Language Bar; Voice Recognition, Text-to-Speech Technology and Handwriting Recognition

Voice recognition will allow students the ability to dictate their thoughts to the computer and therefore reduce the frustration of typing or even pencil and paper tasks. Speech-to-text capabilities will give the students the added support they may require by providing auditory feedback

Objectives

• Participants will be able to use the speech/dictation feature in Microsoft Word to dictate a one page document.
• Participants will download a trial of a text to speech engine to listen and edit a document.
• Participants will use the language bar to work with handwriting or speech recognition or listen to text to speech.
• Participants will use the handwriting features in hte language toolbar.
