Open a Word Document
Use clip art to add visual suuports to a document by giving students a visual image of new concepts or vocabulary.

Inserting Clipart 1. Place your cursor in the desired area 2. Drag down the Insert menu to Picture. 3. At the sub menu select clip art. (OR Click on the red headed man on the drawing toolbar) 4. In the Search for line, type in the name of the picture. 5. Choose the desired picture and depending on the version of Word, insert the picture by *Double clicking on the picture (2000) *Single Click (XP) **. If you are connected to the Internet you may also download clipart directly to your Clipart gallery from the Microsoft website by clicking on the Clips Online (globe) icon and following the directions on screen. *When working with clip art it is helpful to have the Drawing and the Picture tool bars on the desktop for easy access. a. Drag down the View menu to Toolbars. b. At the submenu, select the Drawing and Picture options.
Text wrap *This is very important step because this feature allows you to easily move the picture to a desired location.

a. Click on the Text Wrap icon (poodle) in the Picture Toolbar or b. Double click on the pictures and click the Layout tab in the picture format window. Make the desired selection. * “Tight” works well for most pictures.

*Macintosh Version, for text wrap - click on the arrow to the right side of the Picture Toolbar and click Text Wrapping. Click on the type the desired text wrap.
Move a picture to a new location: Once the picture has been wrapped a. Click on the center of the picture to select it. b. Hold down the mouse and drag to a new location.
Resize a picture: a. Click on the picture to select it.  b. Resizing handles will appear. c. Click on one of the corner handles and drag diagonally towards the center to decrease the size of the picture. d. Click on one of the corner handles and drag diagonally away from the center to increase the size of the picture. |
